ABEc Acoustical Laboratory Aero Acoustic Tests

Duct System
The duct which runs from the fan room to the receiving room contains a sound source chamber. The attenuators under test are mounted within the duct between the sound source chamber and the receiving room.
Constructed in compliance with International Standards, the duct is 610 x 610 mm with steel inner and outer skins sandwiching special infil and damping materials.
Spring isolaters support the ducts and prevent vibration in the system.

Sound Source Chamber
A speaker located in the sound source chamber provides the sound fields required to satisfy the various testing regimes.
The inner surfaces of the chamber are lined with fiberglass and perforated galvanized steel to ensure that the sound source levels remain constant with or without the test specimen in place.

Fan Room

A powerful fan generates the air movement required for insertion loss testing.
The axial flow fan is capable of forward and reverse air flows to 42,507 m3/hr against a static pressure of 1,494 pa.
Noise from the fan room is isolated by an ABEc Modular Access Panel wall and ABEc Sound Lock doorset.
Return and supply air attenuators ensure that external noise from the fan room does not travel down the duct and impact on the sound generated in the sound source chamber.
