Security Impact Testing

Mason steel doorsets have been subjected to US forced entry standards and have qualified for the highest rating of Grade 40. The US Standards ASTM F 476 – 84 (Reapproved 2002) describes methods of testing doorsets to determined the capacity of the assembly to deter unwanted intruders.

The Standard specifies the manner in which the doorset will be monted in a test rig and specifies the dimensions of a heavy door ram which is used to deliver horizontal impact of up to 200 Joules to the door leaf.

Under the test procedure, the doorset is subjected to repeated blows from the ram. After completion of the test routine, the doorset is examined to determine the effect of the impact.

Doorsets qualify for ratings from Grade 10 to Grade 40 depending of their performance in the test.
