Finishes are applied to Mason products in the automated powder coat line at the
Mason manufacturing facility. The process is subject to the quality control procedures approved by ISO 9001
certification. Prior to the application of the powder coat the modules and placed on a suspension system which carries them through a phosphate or chromate (for aluminum) cleaning and rinsing process (after that Delon Process will be applied for aluminum) and then on to a drying oven. The cleaned modules then pass through the robotized spray booth which evenly applies the finish to the specified thickness. After spray application the modules are oven baked to complete the process.
To ensure that the powder coat finish has been applied in accordance with
Mason’s strict QA/QC requirements samples are taken at random from the line and a series of tests are conducted on them by trained quality control inspectors.
Impact Test. The paint is tested per ASTM D2794-93 Standard Test Method for Resistance of Organic Coatings to the Effects of Rapid Deformation.
Film Adhesion Test. The coating film adhesion is tested in accordance with method “B” of ASTM D3359-95a “Standard Test Method for Measuring Adhesion by Tape Test..
Bending Test. The paint is tested in accordance with ISO-1519:2002 (E).
In the event of failure of any of the tests, the entire batch of modules is examined and rejected if the finish coat is found to be below the required standard.
